FAQ

What is ProStamm?

ProStamm is an exceptional cloud-based genealogy program that organizes, manages, and presents digital information, documents and photographs in a unique manner. It not only generates family trees (structural records), it enables users to create personal portfolios as well as presentations of family reunions, graduations, weddings, etc.

Who can become a ProStamm member?

You must be at least 18 years of age to register with ProStamm. Anyone under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or guardian over the age of 18.

Why use ProStamm instead of another genealogy program?

ProStamm is a private internet ‘CLOUD’ based program. There is nothing to install or periodically upgrade. And, you’ll never need to back-up digital files such as photographs and documents. ProStamm tracks every digital image - subject and content. Every family member and friend who is identified in a document and photograph is uniquely identified and indexed.

f ProStamm isn’t installed on my computer, how do I access my information?

You can, through our website www.ProStamm.com, access your family information from anywhere in the world. All you need is a notebook, laptop, or desktop computer (PC or MAC) that has access to the internet. Once you’ve registered with ProStamm, you won’t have to drag files around in a notebook or binder. You’ll be in control of all your information from ‘anywhere in the world’ – whether you’re in the library across the street or travelling the globe. This is especially useful at family reunions and gatherings, where new information and modifications can be instantly uploaded to your ProStamm account. You don’t have to wait until you get home to make changes to your files.

I’m using another genealogy program, why would I want to start over?

You don’t have to start all over. Merely export a GEDCOM file out of your current genealogy program and upload it into ProStamm.

ProStamm will automatically assign a Unique ID to every member in your family.

What is so important about a Unique ID?

Everybody gets their own Unique ID. This is important because every family uses the same name – over and over. Unique IDs make it easy to always know who you’re talking about. Not only that, but ProStamm assigns a Unique Identifier to every photograph and document you upload.

Can members of my family obtain access to our family information?

Absolutely! Primary Record Owners (PROs) can invite friends and family members to join ProStamm and become an FCF and FCL. Not only will FCFs be able to view the family information, they will also be able to suggest changes, add information, and upload documents and photographs.

Can Family Circle Members change family information?

YES and NO. An FCF can upload changes and new information, but the Primary Record Owner must authorize and allow permanent changes to the family record. It’s important to understand that ONLY one person can be in charge of the family record and that is the PRO.

Other than being internet ‘cloud’ driven, what makes ProStamm so important?

Oftentimes, after the passing of a PRO, information is lost simply because no one knows how to retrieve the information from their computer. Since ProStamm maintains point-of-contact information of designated PROs, if the PRO, for whatever reason, is unable to continue as the steward, a designated successor will be the new PRO, as long as the successor is willing to assume the existing ProStamm responsibilities and financial obligations.

What do I need to do, to become part of the ProStamm family?

It’s easy to become part of the ProStamm family. All you need to do is sign up and register with ProStamm on the website. www.ProStamm.com
